PSOne Games

The original PlayStation  is the console that tipped the momentum in Sony's favor, and its rich library of games is the reason for the success. The PSOne lineup remains valuable because the discs are still playable on PlayStation 2  and PlayStation 3  machines. Some truly innovative and fascinating games exist for the system, and nearly all can be found on the cheap.

Top PSOne titles

• Toy Story 2  -- The blockbuster Pixar comedy looks nearly as good on the gamescreen as it did on the silver screen. Help Buzz Lightyear and company save the day in this adventure platformer. A suitable game for children.
• Final Fantasy IX  -- The long-running role-playing series brings magic, treasure hunting and fantasy to your PlayStation. Thanks to its unique menu design and intelligent battle system, this is one is widely regarded as one of the finest PSOne games in creation.
• Rayman  -- Heroes don't get much cuter than Rayman. In one of the first adventure titles released for the PSOne, race through colorful, intricately designed worlds such as the Dream Forest, Band Land and Picture City on the way to defeating Mr. Dark and freeing your world.
• Monopoly  -- The real estate board game comes to life, with animated screens, cards and dice. An excellent party title, as well for loners who can't rustle up a gang of pals to take on in the board game.
• Crash Bandicoot -- Picking up where Mario left off, Crash is an Aussie creature with a penchant for destruction who rampages through bright, colorful levels, collects items and battles bosses. A little archaic by modern standards, but still works as mindless fun.
• Worms  -- Who knew bugs could get so nasty? Play as worms armed with guns, bombs and grenades as you seek to turn your enemies into ooze. A little on the gross side, but still a reasonable option for family entertainment.
