Tile Saws

An electric tile saw  (also known as a wet saw ) resembles a small table saw, with a few differences. The blade is diamond-tipped and the saw is a "wet" saw, meaning water is needed to cool the blade when cutting. Hard materials like ceramic marble or slate will shatter and the friction would destroy the blade or shatter it as well.

  • A typical wet saw is limited in the size of tile it will cut. If you have to cut large tiles, particularly on the diagonal, you will probably have to cut from two directions. When working with large tiles, most all of the cutting will be hidden under base shoe, so that will not be a problem.
