PS2 Games

Xbox lovers can brag all they want about processing speed and visual capabilities, but the bottom line is that Xboxers have as much a possibility of playing the sublime Resident Evil 4 as people who only own a checker board. Sony combats its mediocre hardware by negotiating hardcore exclusivity deals with publishers.

Top Rated PlayStation 2 Games (From GameSpot.com)

Best of the Best

Resident Evil 4 : Horror gaming reaches its high point in this punishing thriller, which implements puzzle elements along with shooting skill. Many publications named this the best game of 2005.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence : Solid Snake is a badass military commando who doesn't back down to anyone and takes pleasure in winning wars entirely by himself. Check out his finest adventure to date, unless you're under the age of 17, in which case you're not allowed to play M-rated games. Go study or something.

MLB '06: The Show : Sony's excusive Major League baseball game is a sheer diamond of realism. You practically have to duck and hope a relief pitcher doesn't peg you with a wad of chaw.

Guitar Hero 2 : One of the most innovative games around, this sucker actually teaches you to play the guitar. Plug in the guitar-shaped peripheral controller that comes with the game's retail package and get ready to climb the stairway to heaven.

WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007 : Nothing says class like pro wrasslin', right? Pretend to be your Saturday-afternoon fake-body-slamming hero in this turnbuckle-busting simulation. To all the men out there -- find a girl who's willing to play this and be assured she's marriage material.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas : Like its predecessor, the equally excellent Grand Theft Auto: Vice City San Andreas sets you up in an open-world urban environment and lets you run free, taking over the territory with ease. Incredible fun and incredible vulgarity. Congressmen, please stop attacking the most vital and engaging of all video game franchises. Parents, please stop buying GTA titles for your kids.

SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs : The best-kept secret of the SOCOM covert fighting games is that the single-player missions blow, but it's the heartrate-juicing online play that makes the game worth double the purchase price.

Kingdom Hearts II : The PS2 thrives on exclusive franchises, and this weirdly addictive mishmash of Final Fantasy and Disney characters ranks near the top of the list. An excellent fit for kids and adults alike.

Shadow of the Colossus : Battling humongoid godlike creatures and unleashing destruction with a seizure-inducing blade is everyone's idea of fun, right? Well, except for the godlike creatures who get hacked to death. Oh well. Can't please everyone.

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal : Platforming fun rarely hits such highs as in this action-packed rompfest. Shoot up robots, leap across chasms and don't answer momma's call to come in for dinner. Another one for players of any age,

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
