Kawasaki

Kawasaki bikes  were introduced to American market in the mid-1960's. The bikes' superior quality helped them join the ranks of the British and American bike manufacturers.

Kawasaki Z1 History
  • In the 1970's, Kawasaki built the first Z1  motor (903cc), with which at the time no other manufacturer could compete.
  • Since the release of the Z1, it has been renamed and revamped.
  • In 1976 the Z1 became Z900 which eventually was made more powerful and became the Z1000  series.
  • The Kawasaki Z series has remained on of the most popular Kawasaki bikes.
  • The GPZ900R  (908cc) was popular on both the road and the racetrack.
  • The ZZR-R1100  (1052cc) was released in 1990 and was the fastest bike on the market for 5 years. *The speed and power, complemented by a strong frame, made the ZZR-1100 a great touring bike.

Since then, Kawasaki released the ZX-12R  (1199 cc), which is termed the ultra superbike. Although Kawasaki saw some decline in their reputation in 2000, they are slowly re-cornering the market, and Kawasaki's history of AMA Superbike titles and the company's plans to re-enter the 2006 competition will continue to strengthen Kawasaki's excellent track record.
