Gifts for Babies

Going to a baby shower? Is it someone's birthday? Well, most babies weren't born yesterday, but even the ones who were will grow to appreciate these gifts.

The Babies and Toddlers section has information on the essential products for childrearing. This article will give you some great ideas for presents for someone else's baby. Make sure you buy something age-appropriate (most gifts will have age levels on them) and try to conform it to any other preferences the family may have. (For instance, don't buy a purple quilt for an all red and yellow nursery or a stuffed musical dog for a child afraid of loud noises.)

Such Cute Clothing!

Babies wear all types of clothing, but these are the most darling and flexible.

Once the child has outgrown a piece, there's no going back. Keep track of how big the baby is and buy clothes accordingly. (They'll be labeled according to age or weight.) The baby will always get larger, so better you buy a size bigger if you're not sure.

Such Adorable Toys

Keep the baby busy with all sorts of great toys. These are classic, easy toys that any baby could love. Does the baby have a favorite type of toy? Find out and work with that theme. Make sure gifts work with the baby's age and are sure to please the parents.

(Here's a tip: listen to whatever sounds the toy makes and imagine being a parent hearing that all day. Be sympathetic to their ears, please.)

Such a Precious Room!

Decorate the baby's room with items that s/he'll keep for years. Many children are reluctant to ever give up their first blankie or pillow. Be the person to give that gift.

Remember, anything that has the baby's name on it is even more special. And it's doubly helpful if there are multiple kids in the family.

Sleeping signs  give the nursery some whimsy, peace, and quiet.

Quilts  are a great keepsake through the years, but use it decoratively until your baby is out of a crib.

Pillows  decorate the room, make it cozy, and help you remember what this kid's name is.

Lamps  light up the nursery and could help decorate in a fun theme just right for this baby.

Chairs  give the baby a her/his own place to sit, once s/he can support her/his own body weight.

Such Lovely Stories!

Pass on your childhood favorites and share stories the baby will hold dear forever.
