Bath and Shower Accessories

If you are outfitting a new bathroom or if you want to spruce up the space you have already, there is no better way to do it than by getting a few essential accessories to make your bath and shower regimen more comfortable and enjoyable. Not all of the items listed here are a necessity, and some are certainly luxuries, which makes them great for giving as gifts.

Make Life Easier

There are a few things that you can get for your shower that will ultimately make bathing easier.

Dispensers  help keep your shower space organized, eliminate clutter, and track how much product is left.

Shower caddies  keep everything in one convenient location. Perfect if you have a shower but no bath tub.

Shower stools  and footrests  make shaving and washing easier. They are especially good to have for the elderly.

Shave easy and see what you are doing with a fogless shower mirror .

Shower mats  help keep you from slipping and teak mats (shown) are even better since they are grime-free.

Scrubbers

Whether you are in the shower or bath, scrubbers help wash and keep your skin smooth by removing the top layers of skin. There are several varieties, and not everyone wants them all.

Back Brushes  with a long handle are great for those hard to reach spots. The strong, firm bristles can feel like a sort of massage, but they aren't always the best for creating a rich, luxurious lather. Remember, you need a hook to hang them on. Wooden style brushes with removable heads are best for multitasking, both on your back and elsewhere.

Loofahs  are popular natural scrubbers with gentle but effective scrubbing action so as to not irritate sensitive skin. They come in handheld scrubs, mitts and on a wooden handle similar to a back brush. The negative thing about loofahs is that they tend to impart an odor after awhile, especially if they are not able to dry out completely within a short amount of time.

Nylon scrubbers are slightly more abrasive, but they dry quickly and come in a variety of forms from a sponge  or pouf to a mitt or cloth, depending on which you find most comfortable to use. They are good because they won't develop mold or any smell, plus they are virtually indestructible. Poufs are also great when you want to create a really foamy lather.

From a simple washcloth  to a sponge  or mitt  made of gentle terry cloth, you can be sure to get a rich, foamy lather with less skin irritation. It won't give you the same polished skin look of a harsher scrubber, but it will treat your skin with care.

Massagers  are great for using in the shower. While they are not quite scrubbers, they do offer therapeutic deep tissue relaxation. Excellent in the tub when you want to spend some time unwinding. Try a handheld styled massager,  like the one featured here, or one of the innovative massage pillows
