| Orton Standard Pyrometric Cones - Pyrometric cones are the most accurate indicators of actual firing temperatures. Usually three cones are selected and set in a clay pot or cone holder at an 82° angle -- one to deform at the recommended firing temperature of the clay or glaze, one to deform at lower temperature as a warning signal and one higher. Temperature for cone 05 is 1911°F, based on standard cones heated to 270°F per hour in oxidation. Cones are 2-1/2" high, 50 per box. |
